Here is a poem I wrote back in 1970 as Bob and Barb Brock where launching out in their first long term missionary endeavour in New Guinea. They had been given a great number of books and we were all working furiously at mission headquarters to get everything packed for shipping to that very needy field of service and I got all inspired and wrote the following.

Depart oh heralds of truth, depart,
Go forth at Christ`s command!
Go forth with love and faithful hearts,
Our hope with you we send.
Go forth and sow the golden grain, each seed a soul may win;
With hearts on fire and souls aflame-- the truth of God proclaim.
Remember Christ is sending thee; not vain or failing men.
Oh, lift the cross for all to see and on His grace depend.
Lo, hear the cries, they rend the night
With fear and horrors great,
Go bear to them that torch of light, before the cry,"too late"
Go forth and know that as you go you cannot go in vain,
Thy God did give the call to go and God will send the rain.

Golden Thoughts for the Golden Years
Written by Russel T in December 1975

Mother, O Mother, My Heart for You Weeps,
Come back from the silence so strange and so deep;
Come back, oh dear mother, if just for one hour,
Your love alone hath such wondrous power;
No other sweetness so abides and endures,
Faithful, unselfish, and patient like yours;
No other words from sweet lips hath so flown,
Gracious ,uplifting,with pure love enthroned,
No other heart with love so possessed,
Can see all my blunders and never love less!
So many fair faces have smiled into mine,
Loving and tender, patient and kind;
Filled with God`s pure love from heaven above,
But where is the bright glow of Mother`s sweet love?
And so I have ceased from my searching below,
For love, just like mother`s love ever to know;
And now I am looking to heaven above,
To Christ who gave mother her wondrous love!

(My dear mother passed away when I was the tender age of two months old. I was raised by my wonderful grandmother who was the closest thing to a mother to me. But, I always longed for that special love that only a mother can give. I would like to dedicate this to all those who are missing that speciall lady, that will never be replaced.)

Give Me Tears
Written by Russell T
Published in the Mission Messenger Aug 1978
~~~
Lord, give me a burden with tears,
For the ones who cannot pray;
Whose minds are closed and hearts are hard,
In the blight of sin`s dread sway.
~~
Lord, help me to weep, and to cry,
With a heart that is broken and yearning;
O`er souls that are lost in sin`s night,
Give me love that is kindled and burning.
~~
Give me tears in my heart for that sinner,
Who was born to be happy and free;
Help me reach through the night and the darkness,
Let me lead that poor sinner to thee.
~~
Give me tears, give me tears, let me weep,
For that one who in deepest soul need;
Has no other to weep and to pray,
Till from powers of hell he is freed.
~~
Give me tears of such tender compassion,
Like to those which on Olivet fell;
When you looked o`er a world that is dying,
Yes, dying and going to hell.
~~
Give me tears in my heart I am pleading,
For without them I surely must fail,
But with tears in my heart interceding
I must surely win and Prevail.
